DAILY HOSPITALIZATION ONCOLOGY UNIT

The Oncology Unit of the Metropolis Medical Center has a capacity of 26 beds and can handle 30-40 daily chemotherapies. It is located on the 2nd floor of the hospital's main building in a separate area.
The doctors' offices and the nursing home are located in the same area. Cytostatic dissolutions are performed in a properly configured and equipped space in the Hospital's Main Building in the same area as the Oncology Unit of Daily Hospitalization.
It operates daily except Saturdays and Sundays from 7.30 until 16.00.

The patient completes the procedure of his entry at the import office at the Unit Office.
He then meets with the attending physician at the clinic's clinic where he reports what happened from the previous treatment, ie the course of the symptoms, new side effects or new problems, but also the improvement or elimination of annoyances or other problems due to the illness or to the applied treatment. The hematological and biochemical parameters are checked and the approval or postponement of the treatment is given. If necessary, a recent blood test may be required for clinical examination.
The patient is brought to his chemotherapy room where the necessary blood samplings and venipuncture are done.
When the patient's hematologic ability to receive the scheduled treatment is established, his physician records the chemotherapy drugs in a specific form, the appropriate quantity for the patient and the route of administration.
Drugs dissolve in a special place and treatment is completed in the patient's room. At the end of chemotherapy, the patient and his / her escorts receive the next treatment ticket, instructions as well as the necessary hematological or imaging tests he / she must have with him the next time.

 

Treatments and Oncology Councils
Chemotherapy is given daily except Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30 to 16:00.
Patients arrive from 8.00 to 8.30 for breakfast or from 11.00 to 11.30 for midday hours.

All patients are examined and e-prescription and e-examinations are made.
Every Thursday there is an oncology board with the C Clinical Practitioners and colleagues of all other specialties, mainly medical imaging, surgical specialties, nuclear medicine, pathologists and others.
Every Monday afternoon there is a Oncology Board for Breast Cancer patients with the Breast Surgery Clinic and the Radiotherapy Department where the B and C oncology clinic and the pathological department are involved.
Every Tuesday afternoon, a oncology council is set up with the participation of all the doctors of the Therapist.
